From the Football Field to the Rocky Mountains

A Senior Session with Santana at White Ranch Park

Santana’s senior session was the best of two different worlds. Our time together began on the football field of her high school where she played flag football and developed her skills as an athlete. Next, we headed up to the mountains through Golden, Colorado for a softer summer look.

With the ball tucked at her side — we started this senior's session right where her story as an athlete really began: her school's football field. Santana was a standout on the flag football team who's taking her game to the next level in college. There's something powerful about photographing an athlete on her home field — it's earned, not staged, and that confidence showed in every frame.

From there, we traded turf for trail and headed up to White Ranch Park in Golden - one of my favorite photo locations - where the wide-open meadows, split-rail fences, and foothill views gave us a completely different kind of shot. This was where she got to slow down — a few quiet, reflective moments with the mountains behind her, a few playful ones frolicking in a field against all that open sky. Ending the session out here gave her gallery a real arc: the competitor who battled it out on the field, and the young woman about to carry that same drive into her next chapter.
